Java is pretty cool. I have only made some real simple things with it (e.g. a number guesser game, etc), but from my time with it I am quite enjoying it.
I tried a few different IDEs - I tried Eclipse first which made me feel pretty overwhelmed so I uninstalled it lol. I then tried BlueJ which is what is used in some modules on my Unis computing course, which I didn't really like. I then realised that I can get a student license for JetBrains products (which means I can try out everything hehe) - so I mostly use Intellij now, which so far has been quite nice. I was looking at other IDEs still, just for fun at this point, where I found Dr Java - which has now become my true favourite I guess lol. I just like it. It's small and opens quickly. On my machines it looks like the high contrast mode on github, which I really like.
I am not sure how one actually improves at programming. I guess you just keep making shit? That is what I shall do.

I feel like I want to learn to code (properly) - but it is so daunting. What language do I want to learn? What software do I need?
I have some experience with Python via my Uni work - though I wouldn't say anything I have written thus far is any good. I think I might just start off learning Java and then move onto other things later. I don't really have a goal in mind for why I am learning beyond having fun.

Might add a blog to this site I guess? I am not really sure what I would actually put in a blog, and I am not sure as to why anyone would want to read about what I am doing with my life.
